TRENT JANSEN / Venice

On the inauguration of the Auto-Exotic exhibition, to be held during the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023 at the SPARC Gallery in Venice, Vetralia is pleased to present its first collaboration with Australian artist Trent Jansen, winner of the artist residency established by the Venice Design Biennial for 2022.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Trent will showcase his work (a sculptural cabinet) "Magistrato al Sal Nero" (black salt magistrate) produced by Vetralia.
"Magistrato al Sal Nero" is a reflection on what made Venice great during its commercial conquest of the known world: an art-functional metaphor that helps us understand the historical roots of the lagoon city's success as well as its (seemingly) inexorable more recent decline.
